It’s been a long day.
Wait. Let me rephrase that.
It’s been a very long day.
I’m hot. I’m tired. My feet hurt. I’m whiney (obviously). I want bedtime to get here soon. A nice cool shower and a soft comfortable bed both sound exquisite to me.
We went school shopping today. Omigoodness. The cost of things like notebooks and binders is ridiculous. It’s one thing to spend a fortune on clothes and shoes - I expect that and, in a way, even look forward to seeing the kids all decked out in some new outfits - but spending half of what’s in my wallet on paper and pens? Pitiful. Absolutely pitiful. Even worse, I know all of these fancy schmancy binders, spiral notebooks, and folders that each teacher requires will be used up or ruined by Christmas time. <sigh>
You know, I have to wonder - why can’t the teachers get together and come up with a reasonable list of goodies for each student to purchase? I mean, can’t a 2-inch binder be used for more than one class? Whatever happened to 5-subject notebooks being used for, well, five subjects? And how in the world do you expect my kid to carry and store all of this crap in a locker that’s no wider than a shoebox? I just don’t get it.
Anyhow, on a happier note, I e-mailed Rachel and asked to be included in the Sockret Pal exchange. I’m hoping I’ll be able to join in on the fun and my lack of sock experience (still on my first pair of socks!) won’t scare them away. We shall see, I guess!
Oh! And I finished 10 more rows on my Booga Bag, so I only have 10 more rows to go before I start the I-cord. Woohoo! I’m getting there and I just may get it done before the end of August. I hope so!
