The Meathead Hat

I thought it would be fun to take part in the Meathead Hat KAL and let me tell you, I was right! This pattern was absolutely wonderful to knit. It was easy enough to be done in a couple of hours, but not so easy that I was bored out of my skull. I will, however, make a couple of changes before I knit this hat again.

  1. I will definitely use circular needles. I have discovered that I do not enjoy seaming and I’m not very good at the mattress stitch.
  2. I will play with colors a bit more. While my daughter loved this hat, my son wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole. No surprise there, right? However, a different color and, of course, a different embellishment and he’d be thrilled.
  3. The bow on the side of this particular hat needs work - a whole lot of work. I think it should be replaced with something a little less wispy. Does that make sense? Maybe a flower would be cute. I don’t know. I’ll figure it out eventually.

This is really an awesome pattern and the hat is so nice and soft. Not only have I discovered how nice Lamb’s Pride wool is, but I have found both a weblog and hat pattern that I enjoy. How awesome is that?!

Can you give me your directions on how to knit the meathead hat in the round?
