I can’t seem to get my act together and get anything done. I’m working dilligently on my Monkey Socks and my Harry Potter Socks, but I’m doing more frogging than anything else. I’m frustrated - very, very frustrated. Oh well. I just keep on keepin’ on. Not much else I can do, right?
Hopefully I’ll have pictures eventually.

I bet you thought I forgot about you, didn’t you? No worries, I haven’t. I’ve just been very busy getting the kids ready for school (they went back on September 5th) and getting myself back into the school-time groove. I know it probably sounds crazy, but it really does take me some time to adapt to a new routine - especially an earlier wake-up time and bedtime. There are times when I’ll be ready to eat lunch but then, after looking at the clock, I’ll discover it’s only 9:00 AM. Heck, wanting lunch after being awake for a few hours isn’t bad when you’re getting up between 9-10:00 AM, but when you’ve been awake since 6:00 AM? It’s not quite time for tuna yet!
Let me tell you, I’m constantly muttering to myself, “Duh Hope. Duh.”
Anyhow, slowly but surely I’m getting back on track and it won’t be long before I have some goodies to show you. Afterall, my inner clock may be off, but I’ve still found some time to knit here and there. Heck, some things just have to be fit into my schedule - no matter how wacky it is!

Have you signed-up for the Monkey Sock Swap 3 yet? There’s not much time left. You only have until the end of the month to join us. C’mon! What are you waiting for? You know you wanna.
By the way, the answers to my MSS3 Questionnaire can be found here. And future Monkey Pal? You can always find my questionnaire answers by following the link in my sidebar (under the MSS3 button). Hopefully that’ll make it easier to find.

There’s a contest happening at Hogwarts Sock Swap 2 - Six Degrees of Draco.
Here’s the basics:
So, the way this is played is this: I’ll give you a choice of 3 different start points…and you have to get those start points back to Draco in 6 steps. Like this:
Nymphadora Tonks to Draco Malfoy….
Nymphadora is married to Lupin, who is in the Order of the Phoenix with the Arthur Weasley, who works for the Ministry of Magic and has investigated Lucious Malfoy who is married to Narcissa, who is the mom of DRACO!
Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Here’s my Six Degrees of Draco starting with The Dursleys…
(1) Petunia (Evans) Dursley is the sister of Lily (Evans) Potter
(2) Lily (Evans) Potter is the mother of Harry Potter
(3) Harry Potter is the godson of Sirius Black
(4) Sirius Black is the cousin of Bellatrix (Black) Lestrange
(5) Bellatrix (Black) Lestrange is sister to Narcissa (Black) Malfoy
(6) Narcissa (Black) Malfoy is mother to Draco Malfoy
And just for fun, I’ll try the other two choices as well…
(1) Arabella Figg works guard duty (OOTP) with Mundungus Fletcher
(2) Mundungus Fletcher is in the Order of the Phoenix with “Mad Eye” Moody
(3) “Mad Eye” Moody trains (as an Auror) Nymphadora Tonks
(4) Nymphadora Tonks is mother to Teddy Remus Lupin
(5) Teddy Remus Lupin is classmates (Hogwarts) with Scorpius Malfoy
(6) Scorpius Malfoy is son to Draco Malfoy
(1) “Mad Eye” Moody is attacked (and impersonated) by Bartemius Crouch Jr.
(2) Bartemius Crouch Jr. is cared for by Winky
(3) Winky is taken to Hogwarts and befriended by Dobby
(4) Dobby was once owned by Lucius Malfoy
(5) Lucius Malfoy is husband to Narcissa (Black) Malfoy
(6) Narcissa (Black) Malfoy is mother to Draco Malfoy

It’s nice to get away sometimes, but it sure is nice to come home again too. After being away from home since August 3rd, we finally got back yesterday afternoon. To say I was smiling as I pulled into our driveway would be an understatement. I was practically bouncing in my seat!
While we were camping, I spent my days visiting with good friends and enjoying time away from things like telephones, vacuum cleaners and computers. Unfortunately I also spent time away from hot showers and washing machines, so both my tub and washer have had quite a workout since yesterday afternoon. My kids spent time with their cousins (and an assortment of other kids that were camped around us) and my husband spent time with “the other woman”.
Yes, you heard me. I said my husband spent his days and evenings with the other woman. The woman with whom I cannot compete. The woman who steals him away from me over-and-over again every summer. The woman who I used to fight against, but have now willingly (and happily) allowed into our life. She’s strong. She’s beautiful. She’s hot. She’s steamy. She’s a 1920 50 HP Case steam traction engine and the love of my husband’s life.
Who am I to complain? It could be so much worse.
Anyhow, it was a nice week. I got a little bit of knitting and a whole lot of gabbing done, so I consider it a excellent vacation. Now I’m ready for things to get back to normal. As soon as I get settled I plan on adding some more to my Ravelry stash and working on my Hogwarts socks. I’ll share my progress when I can!

My daughter, when we do something that she thinks is totally awesome, will tell us we rock. In her opinion, that’s the greatest compliment she can bestow upon on us. I’m always extremely flattered when I hear her say “Mom Rocks!”. I mean, why not? sometimes it’s nice to be an awesome mom - instead of the not horrible, but totally uncool mom my children usually consider me to be.
Anyhow, I got my Ravelry invite today and all I can say is… Ravelry Rocks!
They do! They really, really do! I’ve been taking a little bit of time here and there (in between chapters of Harry Potter) to look around and it is one excellent website. You can socialize with other knitters and crocheters. You can organize your stash. You can show off your FO’s. You can share progress on your UFO’s. You can even make plans for your future projects. Now how cool is all of that? Pretty gosh darn neato if you ask me!
It’s even inspired me to get my act together and get my knitting stuff (and stash) organized. Can you imagine? Me? Organized? It will take some time, but dagnabit, I’m going to do it!
If you haven’t checked it out already - get moving! It may take awhile to get your invitation, but when it comes, you’ll be happy you signed-up. Enjoy!

I forgot to mention…
I’m going to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tomorrow night. I preordered my tickets almost two weeks ago (from Fandango) and my receipt has been sitting on my desk taunting me. I really wanted to go tonight but, since Tom had a meeting to go to this evening and we always go to HP films as a family, we decided Thursday night would be better. I’m just so excited that it’s all I can do to wait for tomorrow to get here!
The wait for the book is getting intense too. I pre-ordered Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Deluxe Edition) back in February and now that the release date is almost here, I’m on pins and needles just waiting for July 21st. It’s torture, but delightful torture!
Speaking of Harry, have you seen the Hogwarts Sock Swap? It sounds like fun to me! Make sure to mark your calendars… sign-ups begin on July 14th. Hope to see you there!

You guys are the greatest.
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful congratulations Tom and I received for our anniversary and thank you also for your kind and supportive comments regarding Sam and his injury.
Sam is doing much, much better. He went to the vet on Monday and his splint is now off. I still find it difficult to look at the boo-boos on his poor paw, but Dr. C says the wounds are superficial and should heal faster now that his foot is no longer wrapped. As far as the break is concerned, it has set and is healing nicely. There’s still some swelling and he can’t put his full weight on his foot yet, but the doctor feels it should only be another couple weeks before he’s the hyper hound we know and love.
Wait. Let me correct myself. Sam has been incredibly hyper for awhile now and his desire to play is as strong as ever, but we’ve had to do our best to keep him reigned in. In another 2-3 weeks though, he can let loose and puppydog party down.
As far as knitting, I haven’t gotten much done. I did, however, complete my very first sewing project - a small tote bag. I don’t have a picture of it but, since I’m working on a second one, I may have a photo or two to share sometime in the next couple of days. I’m using a fairly simple pattern that I found at Craftster and fabric I purchased at Walmart. It’s fun and I find it very exciting to be using a sewing machine.
By the way, I forgot to say that my mom and stepdad bought me a new sewing machine. It’s an early birthday present (my birthday is in October) and I love it. While I don’t have any desire (right now, anyhow) to sew anything extravagant, it’s kinda cool to know that I can now learn at least the basics of sewing.
What else can I share? I can’t think of much else. While I’ve been very busy around here, it’s a boring sort of busy that no one in their right mind would find interesting.
Ah well, such is life. Maybe I’ll have more to say in the next day or two when my tote bag is completed. I’ll have pictures, so that’ll be something… right?

She got me! - Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog. I’ve been tagged by Kathy.
- I was a twin. My brother’s name was Harold James Jr. and he was born two minutes after me. I weighed 1 lb. 15 oz. and was 11-inches long. He was 3 lbs. He died the day after we were born. I believe he’s my guardian angel now. By the way, after my brother died my parents were pretty much convinced that they would lose me too. They hoped and prayed I’d survive and that’s how I got my name - Hope.
- I’m a packrat. I have stuff tucked away that I should have gotten rid of ages ago! I have magazines piled on one of my desk shelves, boxes of papers stacked in the closet and goodness only knows what I have stored away in the barn. I’m going to get up enough gumption to start tossing it all in the trash. Someday.
- My blog’s name (Procrastiknitter) is more accurate than most people realize. I am a horrible procrastinator! I put off household chores. I put off paperwork. I put off bills. I put off appointments. I even put off my knitting. How can anyone put off knitting? It’s crazy! Even worse, do you want to know what I’m doing when I’m procrastinating about knitting? I’m thinking about knitting - surfing the web for patterns I want to knit, looking for yarn I want to knit with, and heck, I even sit around and try to decide what to knit next. Sad, but true.
- I want to run someday. Anyone who knows me is reading that sentence, scratching their head and looking confused, but it’s true - I want to jog someday. I’ve always dreamed of being thin and fit enough to go for a run. Considering I’ve been… <ahem> fluffy… since the age of 10, that’s a whole heckuva lot of dreaming. I refuse to give up on the idea though. It may take years, but someday I’m going to go out and run a mile - or maybe even two!
- I hate tomatoes. I really hate tomatoes. I like spaghetti sauce and I like ketchup, but the thought of eating a raw tomato makes me cringe. They look slimy and they smell horrible. They really gross me out. My aunt found that out the hard way when I was a kid. I was staying with her for a few days and during that time my grandma was invited to dinner. My aunt informed me I was to eat everything on my plate - including the tomatoes she put in my salad. I begged her to not make me eat them. I pleaded. It didn’t work. I was told to eat the tomatoes. Well, I tried. I took a bite and promptly threw-up all over her table. After that she wasn’t so gung-ho about me eating the damned tomatoes. Smart woman.
- When I was a teenager I thought that Scott Baio was the cutest guy on television. I even have (yes, still have) his very first record - won through 16 Magazine and autographed by Scott himself. Cool, eh? I sure thought so! Oh, and so you know, I still think he’s kind of cute.
- I’m really struggling to come up with 7 things about myself. I mean, c’mon. I’m really not that interesting a person! Even harder will be coming up with 7 people to tag. I really don’t know anyone. Eek!
I’ve tagged: Kristi, Karen Bee, Samantha, Rachel, Sandy, Mia and Laura.
P.S. I hope this doesn’t sound nuts, but I was actually a bit scared tagging other bloggers. Maybe one of the seven facts I should have included is how I can be really shy and insecure sometimes, which is why I rarely e-mail strangers or leave comments on blogs. Perhaps I should work on that. Afterall, how else can someone make friends if they don’t get out there and get to know people?
