So much to do, so little time. We leave one week from today for the NYSEA Pageant of Steam and I feel like we will never be ready to go. I want the house somewhat straightened up and I need to wash every piece of clothing we own. Ten days in a camper means no washer and dryer! I also need to get all of our sleeping bags and bedding washed, which takes more time than anything else. I wish I had one of those mega-washers that can wash a king-sized comforter without a problem. That would be so, so nice.
<dream>Ahhh</dream>
You know what part of the problem is with getting everything done? The damned heat! It’s so hot in this house that all I feel capable of doing is sitting and sweating. Pleasant, eh?
I’m going to pack my Booga Bag to take with me on our camping trip. I’m also going to pack a couple of my Knifty Knitter looms, just in case my daughter or nieces get bored and want to learn to loom. Some Peaches & Cream and a couple of dishcloth patterns should round out my knitting basket quite well. I definitely won’t be bored.
Now I need to get back to work - if you can call sweating like a pig work. Yuckypooeynastyblah!

I love recipes. I’m not the greatest of cooks, but I do love to try a new recipe once in awhile. I keep hoping that the more I cook, and the more recipes I try, the more my cooking skills will develop. So far it hasn’t worked, but that doesn’t stop me from making the attempt.
Not all of my favorite recipe spots are full of foo-foo recipes. Actually, most of my favorite pages include meals made with everyday, always-in-the-pantry sort of ingredients. If you haven’t checked out some of these, give them a shot.

Do you know how to knit? If you don’t, then Knitting Help is the place to go to learn! Huh? What did you say? You know how to knit? Well tell me, have you ever forgotten what an abbreviation means? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Knitting Help is the place for you too! Check it out. I love online journals. I love to see what other people have to say about life, about love and about knitting. I admit, I’m nosy like that.
P.S. For more of my favorite bloggers, check out my sidebar. The links above will eventually be added to my sidebar as well.

Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday dear Timothy!
Happy birthday to you!
Fourteen years ago I held you in my arms for the very first time. I swear, it was magical moment. It was at that second that I became someone new - a mommy. It was then that I realized there was no turning back. I was going to experience motherhood whether or not I was ready and you were going to make sure I learned what I needed to learn. It wasn’t always easy, and even now it can be extremely difficult to do the right thing, but somehow we get through it all - the good times and the bad.
You have made me smile, laugh, cry, scream, yell, stress and panic. Everyday of my life with you has been something special, something wonderful, even when I’ve wondered if we’d both get through the day in one piece. You’re my firstborn, my baby boy, my teacher and my student - and I love you so, so much. Happy Birthday.

Link Love: 2006 Knit-Alongs
Every once in awhile I’ll come across a weblog that lists a bazillion knit-a-longs and I’ll wonder how in the world the blogger found so many goodies and groups to enjoy. I know it’s quite possible to find some awesome KAL’s while browsing our favorite webpages, but if you’re anything like me, once you click that KAL button, you find the group is already full or the fun has already started. Bummer! So what’s a knitter to do? How about checking out the 2006 Knit-Alongs webpage. Tons and tons of KAL’s are listed which is awesome for those who are looking to participate in something special. And for those folks who want to advertise a swap or a KAL? A quick email will get the word out that you’re looking for KAL members. It’s a win-win webpage!

Summer is here and day-by-day things get busier and busier. With the kids at home and mid-summer barbeques at their peak, I don’t have much time with either my knitting needles or my computer. While a part of me is sad that I don’t have as much “me time” as I’d enjoy, another part of me wants to get outside and enjoy the nice weather while I can. Afterall, once it gets cold in my neck of the woods, it seems to stay cold for freaking forever!
So, since I don’t have the time that I’d usually have to chit-chat with everyone, I’m going to try to at least update this blog weekly with a “Link Love”. Granted, it won’t mean much reading here, but it should hopefully lead you to somewhere interesting.
Link Love: Annie’s Pattern of the Day.
So far all of the patterns have been crochet patterns, but for those who don’t know how to crochet, you just may find a pattern that inspires you to learn. Since some days are better than others, I would suggest that you check the page daily.

You know what’s fun? Making your own license plates.
Now don’t look at me that way. I haven’t lost my mind. It really can be a lot of fun to make your own license plates - that is, if you know where to go.
Check out the ACME License Maker and you’re bound to see what I mean. You can make your own license plates in a variety of states and styles. Below you’ll see two that I made - in New York 1973. What can I say? I’m a New Yorker and I <heart> my home.

Feel free to use either of the above images to link back to me at www.procrastiknitter.com. Eventually I’ll make some other linkback buttons, but for now I think these are kinda fun. Enjoy!

For awhile now I’ve been trying to find the right yarn to make the “Teen Knits” Tank Top show on DIY Network’s Knitty Gritty. I couldn’t find anything to suit my fancy when I was out shopping, so I kept hoping to come across something online. Well, those days are over. I found the perfect yarn - perfect for me, anyhow - at elann.com. It’s called ONline Linie 117 - City (#12 Berry) and I was able to get three skeins for around $11.00. How reasonable is that? The colors are perfect for my daughter and she loves the feel of the yarn. Perfect!
I have the yarn tucked away for mid-winter when I’ll knit the tank. I think it’ll be nice to have a nice summery garment on my needles when Central New York’s snow and ice start to bring me down. Perhaps it’ll make the end-of-winter-blues a little less blue and a little more - pink and purple? Hey, it could work. Maybe.
