The Hope 100 List

  1. I drive a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutless Ciera.
  2. I used to drive a 1996 Dodge Dakota.
  3. I got into an accident with that Dakota the first month we had it, denting the side when I ran into a telephone pole.
  4. I’ve been in two accidents, but I’ve never received a ticket.
  5. I love Stephen King books.
  6. The book It gave me wicked nightmares.
  7. I’m scared of the dark and will walk very quickly thru any unlit room until I find a light switch.
  8. I like to have at least one foot uncovered while I sleep.
  9. I sometimes spend a great deal of time covering and uncovering that one foot.
  10. Those nights usually happen when I’ve read Stephen King.
  11. I suck at all sports, but wish I didn’t.
  12. Instead of screaming “I got it!” during gym class volleyball games, I would scream “You get it!”
  13. My favorite dinner is swedish meatballs, but only when my mom makes them.
  14. My other favorite dinner is corned beef and cabbage. I can make that.
  15. I think Cherry Garcia ice cream is Heaven you find in the freezer.
  16. I love McDonald’s and Chinese food.
  17. I think asparagus is nasty and smells horrid.
  18. I could live on Diet Coke.
  19. I have tiny hands, huge feet and ugly toes.
  20. I hate shaving my legs, but I do it anyhow. Most of the time.
  21. I think Keanu Reeves and Mel Gibson are sexy.
  22. My husband’s back and shoulders still turn me on.
  23. I have a crush on a guy who’s not my husband.
  24. I can’t name him, but he knows who he is.
  25. I like watching cartoons on Saturday morning.
  26. I also like to watch Disney movies.
  27. Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie.
  28. I cry everytime I watch The Lion King and Pete’s Dragon.
  29. Sometimes I’m flighty and airheaded.
  30. At other times I can be over-sensitive and very moody.
  31. I have had such bad PMS that I’ve thought I was going insane.
  32. At those times, I think the people around me thought the same.
  33. I love the smell of vanilla.
  34. I also love the smell of almonds.
  35. I have some plumeria scented shower gel, body spray and lotion.
  36. The scent of plumeria makes me feel sexy.
  37. My favorite color is pink.
  38. I have a strawberry birthmark on the back of my neck.
  39. My mom, daughter, sister and neice all have the same birthmark.
  40. I was 1 lb. 15 oz. (11-inches long) when I was born.
  41. I was a twin, but my brother died the day after we were born.
  42. I believe my brother is now my guardian angel.
  43. I miss my dad, who died when I was 13.
  44. I miss Mathilda, my father-in-law and my grandpa too.
  45. I miss all of my dad’s family, including those who are alive and well.
  46. I’m proud to be Irish, thanks to my dad’s side of the family.
  47. My mom once dressed me as a bumblebee for a Brownie Halloween party.
  48. I was a fat kid and an even fatter bumblebee.
  49. I now collect bumblebees.
  50. I never thought I would get halfway through this list.
  51. I like country-western music, but secretly get a craving for 80’s bubblegum pop now and then.
  52. I like to make long lists of things: grocery lists, favorites’ lists, lists of all sorts of stuff.
  53. I like St. Bernards and want to get one someday.
  54. My husband says no way will I ever get a St. Bernard.
  55. Anyone who knows me knows that I won’t listen to him.
  56. I snore.
  57. I sometimes snore very very loudly.
  58. I also talk in my sleep.
  59. I used to walk in my sleep.
  60. I once stripped my bed and stuffed all the sheets in the freezer, while walking in my sleep.
  61. I say dorky things when I wake up.
  62. I once told my husband, when he tried waking me up, “I can ignore you as easily as I can my husband.”
  63. I don’t know who I must have been dreaming about that morning, but I hope he was good.
  64. Thank goodness my husband laughed.
  65. I have a butterfly tattoo on my left breast.
  66. I want to have flowers tattooed around my bellybutton.
  67. I also want to get my bellybutton pierced.
  68. I don’t think my belly will ever be thin or flat enough for tattoos or piercings.
  69. I sometimes have to use my fingers when I balance my checkbook.
  70. I think the chicken came before the egg.
  71. I love eggs and pancakes for a hot weekend breakfast.
  72. My normal weekday breakfast is diet coke and a cigarette.
  73. I’ve been smoking cigarettes since I was 16.
  74. I never really got into smoking anything else.
  75. I was a Special Education major in college.
  76. I failed the ASL (sign language) class I took in college.
  77. I left college at the end of my Junior year.
  78. That means, I never graduated from college.
  79. I want to go back to college someday.
  80. For now, I’m happier being a mom than anything else.
  81. It makes me both sad and happy to watch my children grow up.
  82. I sometimes doubt my ability as a mom and a wife.
  83. Sometimes I’m shocked to realize I am a mom and a wife, and not just playing pretend.
  84. I wonder if that sounds as crazy to read as it was to type.
  85. I’m spoiled rotten and can be quite the bitch.
  86. I always feel bad when I’m bitchy, but rarely does it stop me.
  87. I think I have pretty eyes and I like my nose.
  88. My best friend is nicknamed Chick and she says I have a turned-up snob nose.
  89. I love her anyhow.
  90. My other best friends are Diane and Gina, but I haven’t seen them in years.
  91. I love them anyhow.
  92. I have a secret adoration of all things Harry Potter.
  93. I burn very easily in the sun and haven’t tanned in years.
  94. I love to play with web graphics and web pages.
  95. However, I’m usually unhappy with most of what I make.
  96. I had to pause while typing this list so I could send my daughter to bed. Again.
  97. I daydream constantly.
  98. I dream about having my own log cabin someday.
  99. I’m learning how to make candles.
  100. I’m shocked that I completed this 100 Me Things list.

This list was originally written in 2003 for and old website of mine. HSBB is now gone, but the list lives on. There have been some changes since 2003, quitting smoking is one of them, but I haven’t yet gotten around the writing a new Hope 100 List. I’ll get to it eventually - maybe.
